Col. Mekonnen Regassa

The Life of Col. Mekonnen Regassa

Soldier, scholar, and steward of public trust — Col. Mekonnen Regassa has devoted his life to the service of Ethiopia, first on the battlefield and then through the rigorous discipline of accounting and audit.

Early Life

Col. Mekonnen Regassa was born on June 20, 1953, at Debel Yohannis Kebele, Sebeta Woreda, in the Shewa region — about 40 kilometers from Addis Ababa. He grew up surrounded by stories of patriots and a deep respect for Ethiopia's hard-won independence, and from an early age showed a sharp mind for numbers and an unshakable sense of duty.

Military Service

Rising through the ranks to Colonel, he is known among his comrades for steady leadership under pressure, scrupulous fairness, and a refusal to compromise on principle. His service helped shape a generation of officers.

Accountant & Auditor

After his military career, he turned the same discipline toward public finance — championing transparent books, strong internal controls, and the highest standards of audit. He continues to mentor young accountants who carry his standards forward today.

Living Legacy

His life is a living model of the soldier-scholar: courage on the field, integrity in the ledger, and humility in the community. This site is dedicated to celebrating his example and sharing the knowledge he loves.
